Göta canal grand tour, 3 days, 70 km (43,5 miles)

This tour package is for you who wants the full Göta Canal experience. The tour leads you through beautiful nature, along fields, past locks and lets you experience some very tasty regional specialities.

Day 1 - Töreboda - Tåtorp (ca 16 km)
You will start in Töreboda were you collect your bicycle and your picnic basket at Café Visthuset. On the first day you will be riding your bike on plain paths towards Tåtorp. These paths are the very same that in earlier days were used by the draft oxen which were pulling the freight boats up and down the Göta Canal. The first bit of the way will lead you through an alley of trees running alongside pastures with sheep and cattle - this is the longest alley in Sweden! At the organic hostel in Tåtorp your dinner awaits you and here you will also spend the night in a comfortable bed. Several beautiful spots for a swim can be found here or, if you would like, you can rent a boat and go fishing in the lake Viken. The pretty garden of the hostel invites you to relax. The lock in Tåtorp is the only manually operated one on the whole Western Sweden route of the canal, which makes it even more interesting to observe the art of locking a boat.

Day 2 - Tåtorp - Töreboda - Sjötorp - Norrqvarn (ca 28 km)
After you have enjoyed your breakfast, you will be heading back to Töreboda were your lunch will be served at Café Visthuset. You may choose to your liking from our lunch menu. Afterwards, you will continue towards Sjötorp, the harbour of the Göta Canal to the lake Vänern. The way to Sjötorp goes slightly downhill for the entire time and you will be passing several locks that all invite you for a break and to observe how the boats are locked. Sjötorp is a little cosy village were one can take a stroll among the old warehouses, shops and sheds or pay a visit to the Göta Canal museum. In the evening, you will be having dinner at the hotel Norrqvarn and checking in for the night. You will enjoy your dinner on the wharf right next to the canal.

Day 3 - Norrqvarn - Töreboda (ca 13 km)
In the morning, a breakfast buffet awaits you. Afterwards you will be heading back to Töreboda and Café Visthuset. With a delicious «Smörgåsbricka» - a cold platter with some regional specialities - you will be finishing your tour and return the bikes.
